The motivation of this paper is to propose such equitable method for ranking all decision making units (DMUs) in dynamic Data Envelopment Analysis (DDEA) framework. As far as we are aware there is not more studies in dynamic DEA literature. What's more, in such cases the best operating unit is important to be sampled for the others in under evaluated time periods. However, in this special concept of DEA, quasi-fixed inputs or intermediate products are the source of inter temporal dependence between consecutive periods. Hence, in order to have suitable ranking for units operating in dynamic environment the minimum and maximum efficiency values of each DMU in dynamic state are computed. Also, we assume that the sum of efficiency values of all DMUs in dynamic state is equal to unity. Thereafter, the rank of each DMU is determined through the combination of its maximum and minimum efficiency values. A real case of Iranian gas companies highlights the applicability of the proposed method in Dynamic framework.

An important issue for suppliers, producers, and retailers who want to compete in a competitive environment is continuous performance improvement in a dynamic supply chain. Literature review on supply chain puts more emphasis on quantitative factors than other factors. In this research, we focus on quantitative factors which affect competitive advantages creation and investigation. Our goal is to examine the qualitative factors which affect the supply chain management (e.g. supply chain uncertainty, plant location, and manufacturing practices) based on performance evaluation models and at last we give some solutions to improve the performance. Questionnaire was used to collect data and regression statistical method to examine the research hypothesis. According to the results, plant location, supply chain uncertainty and manufacturing practices factors influenced petrochemical industry supply chain performance.

There exist large varieties of conjugate gradient algorithms. In order to take advantage of the attractive features of Liu and Storey (LS) and Conjugate Descent (CD) conjugate gradient methods, we suggest hybridization of these methods in which the parameter is computed as a convex combination of and respectively which the conjugate gradient (update) parameter was obtained from Secant equation. The algorithm generates descent direction and when the iterate jam, the direction satisfy sufficient descent condition. We report numerical results demonstrating the efficiency of our method. The hybrid computational scheme outperform or comparable with known conjugate gradient algorithms. We also show that our method converge globally using strong Wolfe condition.

One of the important decisions which impacts all firms’ activities is the supplier selection problem. Since the 1950s, several works have addressed this problem by treating different aspects and instances. In this paper, a combined multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) technique (EA-PROMETHEE) has been applied to implement a proper decision making. To this aim, after reviewing the theoretical background regarding to supplier selection, the extension analysis (EA) is used to determine the importance of criteria and PROMETHEE for appraisal of suppliers based on the criteria. An empirical example illustrated the proposed approach.

Efficiency and evaluation is one of the main and most important demands of organizations, companies and institutions. As these organizations deal with a large amount of data, therefore, it is necessary to evaluate them on the basis of scientific methods to improve their efficiency. Data envelopment analysis is a suitable method for measuring the efficiency and performance of organizations. This paper has been conducted to evaluate the performance and efficiency of decision making units. First, using the data envelopment analysis, the BCC output oriented model, these units are ranked and the shortcoming of the model in terms of efficacy measurement and separation are determined. Then, to overcome such problems, a combined method of data envelopment analysis; the BCC output oriented model and artificial neural network are used to evaluate the efficiency of these units and finally the results of the two models are compared.Given the efficiency obtained with the BCC output oriented method, it was observed that the amount of efficiency for some units which leads for these units not to be ranked but using the proposed NEURO-DEA method, no two units have the same efficiency and given the obtained efficiency, these units can be evaluated and ranked.

Imagine you have traveled to an unfamiliar city. Before you start your daily tour around the city, you need to know a good route. In Network Theory (NT), this is the traveling salesman problem (TSP). A dynamic programming algorithm is often used for solving this problem. However, when the road network of the city is very complicated and dense, which is usually the case, it will take too long for the algorithm to find the shortest path. Furthermore, in reality, things are not as simple as those stated in AT. For instance, the cost of travel for the same part of the city at different times may not be the same. In this project, we have integrated TSP algorithm with AI knowledge-based approach and case-based reasoning in solving the problem. With this integration, knowledge about the geographical information and past cases are used to help TSP algorithm in finding a solution. This approach dramatically reduces the computation time required for minimum tour finding.

This paper reports a survey and case study research outcomes on the application of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to the ranking method of European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Business Excellence Model in Iran’s Automotive Industry and improving benchmarking process after assessment. Following the global trend, the Iranian industry leaders have introduced the EFQM practice to their supply chain in order to improve the supply base competitiveness during the last four years. A question which is raises is whether the EFQM model can be combined with a mathematical model such as DEA in order to generate a new ranking method and develop or facilitate the benchmarking process. The developed model of this paper is simple. However, it provides some new and interesting insights. The paper assesses the usefulness and capability of the DEA technique to recognize a new scoring system in order to compare the classical ranking method and the EFQM business model. We used this method to identify meaningful exemplar companies for each criterion of the EFQM model then we designed a road map based on realistic targets in the criterion which have currently been achieved by exemplar companies. The research indicates that the DEA approach is a reliable tool to analyze the latent knowledge of scores generated by conducting self- assessments. The Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test is used to compare two scores and the Test of Hypothesis reveals the meaningful relation between the EFQM and DEA new ranking methods. Finally, we drew a road map based on the benchmarking concept using the research results.

In this paper, the cost and income efficiency models have been considered with regard to the multiple objective programming structures. For finding the efficient points in purposed MOLP problem, some various methods like Lexicography & the weighted sum can be used. So by introducing the MOLP problem the cost & income efficiencies will be achieved. In the present study, the MOLP problem is converted to an objective function by the weighted sum of the objective function. So we determine the efficient hyperplanes gradient by finding the dual linear programming (LP) problem.

The most urgent public health problem today is to devise effective strategies to minimize the destruction caused by the AIDS epidemic. Mathematical models based on the underlying transmission mechanisms of the AIDS virus can help the medical/scientific community understand and anticipate its spread in different populations and evaluate the potential effectiveness of different approaches for bringing the epidemic under control. In this paper, we present the framework of conventional compartmental models for the spread of HIV infection to investigate the effect of various types of growths of host population. The model presented has been studied qualitatively using stability theory of differential equations. The equilibrium and stability analysis have been carried out by establishing local and global stability results and some inferences have been drawn to understand the spread of the disease. A numerical study in each case is also performed to see the influence of certain parameters on the disease spread and to support the analytical results. The model analysis has also been applied to compare the theoretical results with the known Indian HIV data.

Organizational performance is a complex issue given that performance is a multifaceted phenomenon whose components may have distinct managerial priorities and may even be mutually inconsistent. Recently, the balanced scorecard approach (BSC), as an effective multi-criteria evaluation concept received much attention in organizational performance measurement. Although the BSC conceptual framework has been widely accepted in the business community, the proper method of implementing the framework remains an issue. Hence, this study has developed a hybrid expert system composition of BSC, Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) and fuzzy inference system (FIS) to evaluate the food producing companies. To this aim, this paper applied a graph theory based technique (DEMATEL) to determine critical criteria of BSC’s perspectives. The results show that “Profit”, “Customer satisfaction”, “Customer communication”, “Innovation management” and “Organizational asset management”, are of more importance in performance evaluation. In the next step, these criteria shape a fuzzy rule based inference system with linguistic variables and the membership functions are adjusted by experts. The results of proposed approach in food industry of Guilan province, Iran, show its applicability for evaluating the food companies.

The development and management of an effective and efficient supply chain involve the selection of the suppliers. Only economic criteria, including cost and delivery, once used to be considered in the process of supplier selection. But, they do not suffice for the evaluation of suppliers anymore due to the rapidly changing environment, and different perspectives are needed to be considered. The present paper aims to present a hybrid method based on fuzzy data envelopment analysis for sustainable supplier selection. At first, the criteria for sustainable supplier selection are derived from the relevant literature. Then, the hierarchy of the criteria and their preferential interrelations are specified by analytic hierarchy process. Eventually, the performance of the suppliers is evaluated using fuzzy data envelopment analysis. The presented DEA model has been inspired by the concept of ideal and anti-ideal decision-making units (DMUs) in the evaluation of cross-efficiency. According to this concept, a DMU is efficient if it is close to the ideal DMU’s performance and far from the anti-ideal DMU’s performance.

One of the most important activities in the management of input items of a company is focusing on the process of purchasing, supplier selection and allocating order to suppliers. Decisions about supplier selection due to simultaneously taking inconsistent and diverse issues into account in a wide range of strategic to operational factors, and from quantitative to qualitative criteria will be complex by nature. In order to select the best suppliers it is necessary to make a trade-off between these tangible and intangible factors some of which may conflict. When business volume discounts exist, this problem becomes more complicated. In this paper a multi-objective model for order allocation under volume discount conditions is presented. In this context, suppliers offer price discounts on total business volume. A solution methodology is presented to solve the multi-objective model, and the model is illustrated using a numerical example. Studying various combinations of constraints such as capacity, timely delivery, disadvantages and cost, taking into account quantity discounts, considering the weight of the suppliers in order allocation and integration of these cases with each other, have made the current research quite unique.

In the process of milk production, the highest cost relates to animal feed. Based on reports provided by the experts, around seventy percent of dairy livestock costs included feed costs. In order to minimize the total price of livestock feed, according to the limits of feed sources in each region or season, and also the transportation and maintenance costs and ultimately milk price reduction, optimization of the livestock nutrition program is an essential issue. Because of the uncertainty and lack of precision in the optimal food ration done with existing methods based on linear programming, there is a need to use appropriate methods to meet this purpose. Therefore, in this study formulation of completely mixed nutrient diets of dairy cows is done by using a fuzzy linear programming in early lactation. Application of fuzzy optimization method and floating price make it possible to formulate and change the completely mixed diets with adequate safety margins. Therefore, applications of fuzzy methods in feed rations of dairy cattle are recommended to optimize the diets. Obviously, it would be useful to design suitable software, which provides the possibility of using floating prices to set feed rations by the use of fuzzy optimization method.

This paper uses data envelopment analysis (DEA) to examine the technical, pure technical, and scale efficiencies of 12 branches of the agricultural bank in Guilan province, Iran over the period of 2012-2016. The first results indicated that scale inefficiency contributed more to overall technical inefficiency than pure technical inefficiency over the studied period. Results of return to scale reveal that decreasing return to scale is the main form of scale inefficiency. Then, overall technical efficiency scores obtained from DEA was regressed over four factors determining bank efficiency (including bank size, profitability, capital adequacy, and liquidity) by the Tobit method. These four variables influenced efficiency differently. Branch size showed a negative, insignificant relationship with technical efficiency. So, it had no impact on efficiency. Profitability was the main parameter in branch efficiency following by liquidity. Profitability and liquidity influenced efficiency positively and significantly. In other words, larger and more profitable branches have higher technical efficiency.
